‘Copper Bucket’ Oil Painting by Gerard van Wijland
A beautifully framed old-world painting of an arrangement including a copper bucket and some worn Delft tiles, painted by Dutch Artist Gerard van Wijland. Van Wijland was born in the Dutch city of Utrecht in 1912. From 1930 until 1936 he studied under the artist Huib Luns at the Royal Academy of Art in Amsterdam. In the early 1940s, he settled in the town of Hilversum, where he painted and took on a number of students. Signed lower left, with the annotation ‘H(ilver)sum’ lower right. Framed in an ornate antique frame, 26 1/4 inches tall by 34 inches wide. Image size is 19 inches by 26 3/4 inches.
