‘The Brewer’s Canal – Amsterdam’ Oil Painting by Louis Rempt
Dark green water reflects the towering buildings of the Brewer’s Canal (Brouwersgracht), by many considered the prettiest street in Amsterdam. A number of boats are tied up, floating under the trees that line the canal. Louis Andries Pieter Rempt was born in Amsterdam in 1896 but traveled to Rotterdam to study at the Academy of Fine Art there. But the city of his birth eventually drew him back, and he spent the remainder of his days capturing that which made Amsterdam so beautiful. Framed in a vintage frame and signed lower left. Canvas image is 19 1/4 inches tall by 25 1/4 inches wide. Framed dimensions are 26 3/4 inches by 32 1/2 inches.
